Severe Weather Warning
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Union County, including Scotch Plains.
Based on this mornings latest NWS briefing, the storm is expected to begin this evening and continue into tomorrow afternoon with total snowfall accumulations of 5 to 9 inches. Some areas may see as high as 10 inches. Periods of moderate to heavy snow are anticipated, which may result in hazardous travel conditions.
Residents are urged to take the following preparedness actions:
Limit travel unless absolutely necessary once snow begins. Ensure vehicles are fueled and equipped for winter conditions. Prepare emergency supplies, including food, water, dry and warm clothing, medications, and batteries. Charge mobile devices and check backup power sources. Clear sidewalks and fire hydrants when safe to do so to assist emergency responders.
